Official figures show that nearly one in ten “pensioners” were still employed, a total of just over one million, an increase of nearly 100,000 in the past 12 months and almost double the level of 10 years ago.

The reasons for this growth are linked to demographics ( there are more over 65`s than 10 years ago) but many peoples pensions are lower than expected.

Employers have also recognised the value of holding on to highly skilled mature workers who have an important role in their firms and are difficult to replace due to skill shortages. The challenge for employers is to keep these key people fit and healthy to prolong their active employment!

Older employees will need special treatment to meet their health needs. Companies like Orchard Healthcare offer affordable plans to provide access to Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Chiropody, Diagnostic Testing, Optical Care etc to ensure they can get back to work quickly after sickness absence.

These low cost plans can help ensure theses valuable employees are not adversely affected by long NHS diagnosis and treatment delays which could threaten their future employment.
